Electric vehicle adventurers Chris and Julie Ramsey kicked off a pole-to-pole journey aboard a Nissan Ariya in March

Intrepid EV explorers Chris and Julie Ramsey have started their pole-to-pole expedition (last March), surrounded by the vast ice-covered Arctic Ocean. After a thorough safety assessment, the team set out from the 1823 North Magnetic Pole, on a journey that will take them more than 27,000 kilometers through North, Central and South America, with the ultimate goal of reaching the most remote part of the world, the South Pole of Antarctica, in December.

During the expedition, the electric adventurers will face numerous challenges, including extreme weather conditions and difficult terrain, while emphasizing the capabilities and reliability of electric vehicles, eager to see if the Ramsey team will be able to complete this unprecedented feat.

The challenge of traveling from pole to pole has never before been completed by a vehicle, but the Pole to Pole team takes on the historic challenge using a 100% electric vehicle. Chris and Julie have undertaken this feat to demonstrate the capability and excitement of these cars by means of a Nissan Ariya.

With this, they hope that the value towards electrified cars will drive their adoption as a positive measure against the climate crisis. As they make their way towards the South Pole of Antarctica, they face numerous obstacles, but the team pushes on, determined to meet their goal of covering more than 27,000 km in an electric vehicle.

The journey has become a source of inspiration and hope for those concerned about climate change, and many are following the feat with interest to see if the Pole to Pole team will manage to complete their historic journey.

modified nissan ariya

The Nissan Ariya has undergone some minor modifications to allow it to handle the extreme terrain the team will face on its journey. The vehicle has been fitted with massive 39-inch tires that have been fitted after the suspension has been raised and the wheel arches widened, which will allow the car to β€œfloat” in deep snow and sea ice.

Despite these modifications, the battery, powertrain and e-4ORCE system, which is Nissan's advanced four-wheel control technology, remain standard. As the Pole to Pole team moves towards its ultimate goal of reaching the South Pole of Antarctica, the Nissan Ariya has proven to be a reliable choice for such a challenging journey.
