Ladera Ranch resident Sarah Crocker died after falling from edge of waterfall in San Diego County; the woman was trying to save a teenager that she had slipped.
An Orange County mother of two died after falling over the edge of a waterfall while trying to rescue a young woman last week in San Diego County, authorities said.
Sarah Crocker, 48, of Ladera Ranch, was walking with family and friends in the Three Sisters Falls area of ​​Descanso when a teenage girl slipped and began to fall, the County Sheriff's Department said. San Diego in a statement.
The mother of the family tried to prevent the teenager from falling from the edge of the waterfall, but she lost her balance and both women ended up falling to the bottom.
“Unfortunately, both the woman and the young woman fell and suffered serious injuries,” the Sheriff's Department said in the statement.
Several people who were at the scene rushed for help and called 911.
The teen was airlifted to a hospital by helicopter and reported to have non-life-threatening injuries.
Crocker died at the scene of the accident. The San Diego County Coroner's Office determined the woman died after suffering “multiple blunt force injuries” and by drowning.
Crocker is survived by her husband, Brad, and her sons, Owen and Delaney.
“We lost Sarah in a tragic accident hiking. Sarah was pure joy. Her love of family, friends, and all things outdoors made her special to everyone who knew her,” friends wrote on a GoFundMe page set up to support the Crocker family.
Sarah Crocker worked as a field naturalist at The Nature Reserve in Mission Viejo.
