Donald Trump announced that he will run for President in the 2024 elections

Former President Donald Trump officially announced Tuesday from his residence at Mar-a-Lago in Florida, his decision to run as the Republican Party 's candidate for President in the 2024 elections , the first of the possible Republican candidates to announce it.

In announcing his presidential bid, “Two years ago when I left office, America was ready for its golden age,” Trump said, going on to list what he considers to be achievements of his tenure.

Trump has filed official paperwork to run for president in 2024 with the Federal Election Commission. His committee is called Donald J. Trump for President 2024 , according to The New York Times.

Trump faces new challenges as a presidential candidate this time, as he has several pending legal processes that may hinder his progress and possibly other Republicans will also compete for the presidential nomination in the next election.

The former president's announcement Tuesday comes two years after voters ousted him and elected Joe Biden president of the United States and a week after the midterm elections, when voters rejected many of the handpicked candidates Trump endorsed him in several key senatorial races.

The New York attorney general has initiated civil proceedings against Trump involving the Trump Organization.
