Through a documentary about his career, 'El Buki' reveals little-known passages from his beginnings when he performed in bars where no one dreamed he would become an idol

After five decades of constant work, Marco Antonio Solis Marroquin is one of the most internationally recognized Mexican singers.

From this derives the fact that a documentary was recently produced about his career on stage since he broke in as the vocalist of the musical group “Los Bukis”.

As part of the testimonies that were collected, the singer with long hair revealed that he had achieved an impossible dream for his father, who despite trying to make his way in the country's capital through the interpretation of musical themes, ended up failing, which which led him to face his frustration locked up frequently accompanied by alcoholic beverages.

“My father played the guitar, he wanted to be an artist, he went to the XEW to compete, he got very nervous in front of the microphones and the cameras, his voice shut down, he returned to town, got frustrated and started drinking”, describes the 63-year-old singer-songwriter in a part of the project entitled “The lyrics of my story.”

Throughout four chapters, the performer from Michoacan opens the trunk of his memories to describe the setbacks he had to face during his youth to earn a place in the music industry.

In this way, many of the people who came to hear Marco Antonio singing in bars did not even imagine the dimension that his interpretations would reach by crowding most of the big stages where he performed as the musical leader of “Los Bukis”.

“From interviews and unpublished material we will travel through time to learn the story of one of the most important contemporary singer-songwriters in Mexico,” indicates the synopsis of the documentary available from the Amazon Prime Video platform.

However, the fame of “Buki” contrasts with the simplicity with which he conducts himself in front of his public and the media, which, by the way, know very little about his human side, since he is usually a type reserved that generally stays away from controversy since the disintegration of the group through which he managed to succeed even beyond the borders of his country.
