Chris Avellaneda, 15, is hospitalized after being shot while talking with friends outside his home in Azusa; The family asks the public for help to cover the medical expenses of the young Hispanic.

A Hispanic teenager is fighting for his life after being injured Friday night in the city of Azusa, Los Angeles County.

Chris Avelladena, 15, was in front of his house talking with friends when he was attacked by bullets.

The young Hispanic man was seriously injured and is hospitalized in an intensive care unit with support vital.

“Chris is one of seven children and our family already has serious financial problems, and medical expenses to try to save Chris' living are already so high that our family could never afford them,” the Avellaneda family wrote on a GoFundMe page.

The shooting occurred at approximately 11:00 pm Friday in the 200 block of East Newburgh Avenue.

When authorities arrived, they found three people with gunshot wounds to the upper body.

Los Angeles County Fire Department paramedics arrived at the scene and determined that a 20-year-old man had died from his injuries, while Avellaneda and another 18-year-old were taken to a hospital.

Initial investigations determined that the three victims were talking near an apartment complex when several people arrived and shot them before escaping.

The Avellaneda family thanked the public for being able to provide them with any help through the GoFundMe page they created for this situation.

Our family would appreciate any financial help you can offer, which would be used for Chris”s medical care, said the Avellaneda family.
