Mexico, the third team that ran the least and the fourth with the least effectiveness in the Qatar 2022 World Cup
Time to Read: 1 minuteThe Mexican team was the fourth least effective team in front of the goal, while the first was Germany. Both eliminated in the group stage of Qatar 2022
The Mexican team was among the three teams that ran the least during the group stage of the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Only Argentina and Ecuador ran less than the Mexicans.
“We see that those with the most ball run less, because once they have the ball, they no longer need to keep running, they are not in a defensive phase. I am sure that Argentina can increase this statistic”, commented Arsene Wenger, FIFA's director of World Football Development.
The Mexican team ran 108 kilometers, only Argentina and Ecuador were up, running 105 kilometers, three less than the Mexicans.
The statistics given by FIFA revealed that the United States was the team that ran the most with 123 followed by Australia. Both teams were eliminated in the round of 16 against the Netherlands and Argentina respectively.

Regarding shots, Mexico was the fourth team with the most shots, but also the fourth with the lowest effectiveness rate. The team led by Gerardo Tata Martino needed 7.5 goal attempts per score, a figure that evidenced the lack of goals that marked the elimination of the Tri de Qatar 2022.
Germany was the team that shot the most at the rival goal, but with the worst effectiveness rate. A statistic that may be a reflection of the group stage elimination of the Teutons, who were eliminated for the second consecutive time in a World Cup.
“Nines are no longer always nines, they are no longer expected to always score. It is a problem that we have with the nine, since we have Miroslav Klose. There is a lack of precision in the shot and a clear scorer”, commented Jurgen Klinsmann, who is part of the FIFA technical group.
