Donald Trump is considering allowing federal FBI agents to search Mar-a-Lago again, according to CNN

More than two months after FBI agents seized hundreds of sensitive government documents from Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago home, the former president is considering inviting federal investigators to his South Florida residence, according to CNN.

Former President Trump's legal team is evaluating whether to allow Justice Department officials to return to Mar-a-Lago to conduct a supervised search, amid concerns about documents that may be missing from being turned over to the National Archives, as procedures Trials in the case are dragging on, the outlet reported on Wednesday.

The Justice Department has previously said it believes government documents may still be missing and accused Donald Trump of failing to fully comply with a subpoena filed in May to return sensitive government records to the National Archives.

A repeat of the August raid, this time with Trump's personal lawyers overseeing a search, is just one suggestion among many, as the former president's lawyers work to prevent him from further legal trouble, according to CNN. But the fact that the option is even on the table signals an apparent shift in the Trump legal team's approach to the investigation.

Donald Trump is in the midst of multiple legal battles and has recently signaled to advisers and allies that he is open to a less adversarial approach to the Justice Department, something that could quickly resolve the claimed government records issue , after weeks of of contentious court proceedings, according to people familiar with the situation.

CNN reported Wednesday that the former president began hinting that he might be open to a less adversarial approach in hopes of resolving the case quickly.

β€œThe general belief in Trump World is that this is a lot of ado about nothing and the sooner we get over it, the better,” an anonymous person familiar with the matter told the outlet.

However, people close to Trump said his legal team is still trying to decide how accommodating or aggressive they should be. Some close to Trump reportedly disagree with the Justice Department's suggestion that Trump still has government records.

As the midterm elections approach and Trump grapples with his next political move, the former president and his allies are eager to ease their web of legal problems, which have been piling up in recent months.
