At least 10 people were injured in a shooting in downtown Denver this morning during the celebration of the first NBA ring for the Nuggets in their entire history.

Denver Police said three of the injured are in critical condition.

Thousands of people took to the streets of Denver last night to celebrate the first NBA title for the team led by Serbian genius Nikola Jokic.

Authorities organized a heavy police deployment in the Downtown Denver area roughly between the Nuggets' Ball Arena and MLB's Colorado Rockies' Coors Field.

The shooting, which occurred at the intersection of 20th and Market streets, happened after an “altercation” between several individuals, police said.

After a very complicated and exciting game until the end, the Nuggets defeated the Miami Heat on Monday (94-89) and they conquered the ring by taking the NBA Finals 4-1.

Jokic (28 points and 16 rebounds in the fifth game) was chosen MVP of the Finals and finished a playoff impressive, beating the record for triple-doubles with 10 and becoming the first player to lead the statistics of points, rebounds, and assists in an NBA playoff.

The Nuggets are scheduled to celebrate their title with a parade through the streets of Denver on Thursday.
