Some diseases are so painful and affect so much that some people would rather die than continue suffering from them, such is the case of a young French YouTuber who wants to resort to euthanasia to end her multiple personality problem and internet bullying.
A 23-year-old successful YouTuber known as Olympe recently shocked the whole of France by announcing that she plans to commit assisted suicide to treat her dissociative identity disorder (DID), which has affected her greatly throughout her life.
Through some videos on Instagram, Olympe, whose real name is Lily, announced her intention to undergo assisted euthanasia in Belgium at the end of 2023.
“It's my life, it's a difficult decision that I had to make,” said the young YouTuber. “Although I am a very resilient person, I have my limits like any human, and my limits have been pushed to the limit for years. I am very tired and I do not tell anyone that this is the solution (assisted suicide) and I do not wish anyone on this earth to have a single day to think about it,” she added.
According to the French outlet Purepeople, a year ago, the influencer revealed that she suffered from DID in the program Ca commence aujourd'hui presented by Faustine Bollaert on France 2 and made many people aware of the disease she suffers from through her interview and also of your platform.
After opening her YouTube channel in January 2020, Olympe has spent three years sharing her day-to-day life with TID and already has more than 250,000 subscribers who follow her adventures.
Reasons for thinking about suicide
The traumas linked to her childhood were at the origin of her TDI, this dark past that she finds difficult to get rid of would explain her desire to end her life. However, there are also other reasons that have made her think about suicide.
In one of the messages recently published on Instagram, she also confesses that one of the causes of this decision is the numerous hate comments she receives. “Some time ago an American youtuber committed suicide and suddenly she had a lot of her fans while they harassed her on the networks…. And not. ‘I am Olympus’ hashtags and dove emojis in my comment zone will not keep me coming back,” she said.
In addition to dealing with past traumas, Olympe has had to deal with internet trolls who have harassed her on a daily basis and have taken her experience and life as a topic of discussion on social media.
However, the YouTuber makes it clear that she is not an immovable person. She still wants to experience many things before ending her life, so she wants to do it by the end of 2023, which gives her time to think.
