The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced this Friday that the retailer Target will recall almost 5 million Threshold brand candles, which are presented in glass jars and which, according to the entity, represent the risk of breaking.
The commission objected that due to the high temperatures when lighting the candles, the container could crack and even cause burns and lacerations. In this sense, the products withdrawn correspond to candles with 1 wick of 5.5 ounces, 3 wicks of 14 ounces and 3 wicks of 20 ounces, the entity detailed.
So far, Target has reported some 137 cases, in which those affected claimed that the glass jar of the candle broke while it was burning, of these reports, six customers suffered injuries.
The retail chain said in a statement that it is “committed to providing safe and high-quality products to our consumers. Certain Threshold candles were recalled due to potential safety issues identified in the CPSC news release,” he said.
For its part, the CPSC asked shoppers to stop using the candles and return them to Target as soon as possible for a full product refund. According to data from the chain, some 4.9 million candles were sold throughout the country, in the different Target stores between August 2019 and March of this year.
