Bonny Wildfire Burns Over 2,300 Acres in Riverside County

The Bonny fire started this Thursday afternoon and as of Monday morning it was contained in 20%; The authorities updated evacuation orders and warnings due to the advance of the flames.
A wildfire had burned more than 2,300 acres as of Monday morning in Riverside County.
The so-called Bonny Fire had spread over 2,305 acres on the edge of the Cahuilla indigenous reserve, south of Aguanga, and by Monday morning it was reported to be 20% contained.

As of this Sunday, The Riverside County Fire Department reported that crews had made good progress in containing the flames, with containment progressing to 10% to 20%, they reported Monday.
βChanging weather patterns and the continued possibility of thunderstorms increases the risk of erratic fire behavior. Firefighters will continue to cool hot spots and construct a containment line around the perimeter of the fire,β explained the Fire Department.
The conflagration was reported at approximately 2:50 pm this Thursday near Bonny and Barber lanes, as reported by the fire department.
The fire is expected to be fully contained until Monday, August 7.
This Sunday it was reported that a firefighter was injured during the fight against the flames, without providing further details about this incident.
1,884 firefighters from Riverside County, as well as other collaborating agencies are involved in the work to contain the fire, authorities said.
From the air, five helicopters and several tanker planes are also taking part in the efforts to put out the fire.
Some 786 structures are threatened by the fire, which has already destroyed one building.
Evacuation orders remained in effect Monday afternoon for the area north of the San Diego County line, east of Bonny Lane, south of Bowers Road and west of Chapman Road.
Evacuation warning areas are north of the San Diego County line and Ramsey Road, east of Spanish Spur Trail, south of La Cima Road/Indian Paint Brush Road and west of Anza Borrego State Park.

Riverside County authorities have established a care and reception center at Hamilton High School in Anza.
To care for the displaced animals, Riverside County Department of Animal Services deployed staff to the location and they were housed at the San Jacinto Animal Campus at 581 South Grand Avenue.
As a result of this wildfire, the South Coast Air Quality Management District issued a smoke advisory.
Riverside County authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
