The best thing is for the Spanish to take the floor and pronounce themselves, said the Prime Minister after the negative results of his party.

The president of the Spanish government Pedro Sánchez announced this Monday (05.29.2023) the advancement of the general elections to Sunday, July 23, due to the bad electoral result of the PSOE this Sunday.

“There is only one infallible method to resolve doubts, the best thing is for the Spanish to take the floor and pronounce themselves,” he said after informing that he had an office with King Felipe VI to inform him of the decision to convene the Council of Ministers and dissolve the Cortes Generales.

According to the Spanish leader, the first consequence will be that “magnificent regional presidents and socialist mayors will be displaced with impeccable management.

He also pointed out that the second consequence will be that numerous institutions will be administered by new majorities made up of the Popular Party and Vox.

I believe it is necessary to give an answer and submit our mandate democratic” to the polls, Sánchez assured after maintaining that his government has complied with its program and Spain is about to overcome the crisis derived from the coronavirus pandemic and the consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, in a context of economic growth and creation of employment.
