Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis is nearing the launch of his presidential campaign for the 2024 elections, according to sources cited by various media outlets.

Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis is preparing to launch his 2024 presidential bid before the end of the month, according to two sources with knowledge of campaign planning, cited by CNN.

The Reuters agency for its part specified that the Republican governor of Florida is preparing the launch of his presidential campaign for next week, according to two sources familiar with the decision, indicating that DeSantis is likely to present documents declaring his candidacy on May 25 to coincide with a donor meeting in Miami, with a more formal launch for the week of May 29, according to one of the sources.

The cited media say a DeSantis spokesperson declined to comment on the news. News of DeSantis's candidacy launching in the coming week was first reported by The Wall Street Journal.

DeSantis' political operation is currently moving to a new headquarters in Tallahassee, while a closely aligned super PAC with the Florida Republican runs a national campaign out of Atlanta.

Although some donors have complained about his recent performance and worry that he is already badly damaged by repeated attacks by Donald Trump, within DeSantis' team of trusted advisers the launch of his presidential campaign is judged right on time.

DeSantis vowed that he would not make a decision on the race until after the state concluded its legislative session, which was earlier this month.

Florida's governor is also finalizing the state budget and touring the state while signing legislation endorsing his conservative political victories.

DeSantis' entry into the 2024 presidential race comes after months of visiting early presidential primary states and across the country to promote his new book and tout his legislative record as governor.
