Hussain said on Thursday that the rights of religious minorities in India are at risk and the US is directly conveying its concerns to India in this regard. Hussain also referred to the Citizenship Amendment Act and open calls for genocide. Hussain told the committee that we have seen cases like attacks on churches and hijab ban in India. He also said that a minister even called Muslims in India termites. Earlier, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, while releasing the report on religious freedom, had expressed some controversial things along with expressing concern about India, to which the Indian Foreign Ministry had objected. The report also raised concerns about the growing threat of attacks on shrines in India.
