The government of Iran detained one of the most famous and recognized actresses in that country , after being accused of spreading falsehoods about the national protests that shake the country.

A report by the Iranian news agency IRNA highlights that Taraneh Alidoosti, star of the Oscar-winning film "The Salesman" , was detained a week after she made a post on Instagram.

In the social media post, the actress expressed her solidarity with the first man recently executed for crimes allegedly committed during nationwide protests sparked by the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini , who died after being detained by police. of morality.

“His name was Mohsen Shekari. Any international organization that is observing this bloodshed and does not act is a shame for humanity,” the 38-year-old actress published in her post.

The man the actress referred to in the post was executed on December 9 after being accused by an Iranian court of blocking a street in Tehran and attacking a member of the country's security forces with a machete.

According to state media, Alidoosti was detained because she did not provide “any document consistent with her claims.”

Both Taraneh Alidoosti's Instagram and Twitter accounts are currently suspended and her posts cannot be accessed.

Before her Instagram account was suspended, the actress had posted at least three messages expressing her solidarity with the protesters since the protests broke out in September.

Other celebrities arrested and targeted

According to state media, several other Iranian celebrities had been "summoned by the judicial body for posting provocative content," but it is not known how many or who.

IRNA also reported that Hengameh Ghaziani and Katayoun Riahi, two other famous actresses in Iran, were detained by the authorities for expressing solidarity with the protesters on social media. Both have been released.
