The first regular season game played in the capital of England was in 2007, when the New York Giants beat the Miami Dolphins 13-10 at Wembley Stadium.
Since then, 36 games have been played in this city, the most ever league has held outside the United States, including this year's Jaguars-Falcons, Bills-Jaguars and Titans-Ravens.
Goodell acknowledged that, “I think that being able to play the Super Bowl in each of our cities is a huge economic boost for them and our fans; although we must recognize that here in London we also have great fans,” he explained.
Where will the next Super Bowls be held?
The next three Super Bowls are scheduled to be played in Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, in February 2024; the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, in February 2025: and the Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, in February 2026.
The commissioner did not specify whether from 2027 London would have the opportunity to be considered among the venues to host the dispute for the Lombardi trophy, but he did not completely rule out that possibility either.
“I think that is not ruled out, it is something that we believe would make sense, although For now, we will maintain our formula of playing Super Bowls in cities that have an NFL franchise,” he stressed.
