The Ensenada City Council, in the Mexican state of Baja California, reported an armed attack that occurred in the San Vicente delegation against runners in a rally called “Cachanillazo”, which left 9 injured and 10 dead.
“Mayor Armando Ayala Robles regretted the attack perpetrated against runners who participated in the activities of the event called 'Cachanillazo', whose participants left the Playa Hermosa area this Saturday morning,” the statement said.
According to the reports of the Municipal Public Security Directorate (DSPM), at 2:18 p.m. on Saturday the 20th, a report was received through the emergency number 911 that warned of firearm detonations, as well as several people injured.
The report also indicated that in the area located on the Transpeninsular Highway, kilometer 90 in the area of ​​the San Vicente delegation, a recent model gray van arrived, from which people got out and began shooting with long weapons at the runners. who were parked.

Personnel from the municipal Police, State Citizen Security Force, Secretary of the Navy, State Investigation Agency (AEI), Secretary of National Defense, Fire Department and the Mexican Red Cross, went to the area to attend to the emergency.
The Red Cross was in charge of transferring the wounded to the urban area of ​​the municipality and two more are treated in San Vicente.
“The Government of Ensenada is in close coordination with the Baja California State Attorney General's Office, in order to assist in the inquiries that lead to the clarification of the facts,” the statement said.
“I am in permanent communication with the State Attorney General's Office, as well as with the federal corporations of the three levels of government to provide all the necessary information,” said the Mayor.
Likewise, surveillance was increased in the delegations of the southern area of ​​the municipality and the operations to locate those responsible for the attack remain active, he said.
He recognized the support of the State Attorney General, Ricardo Ivan Carpio Sanchez, who commissioned a special investigation group to address this fact.
The Baja California Prosecutor's Office reported for its part that a special team traveled to the community to reinforce the tasks.
“The State Attorney General's Office, in coordination with SEDENA, SEMAR, the State Citizen Security Force (FESC) and the Ensenada Municipal Police, is responding to the report of an attack against civilians registered in the town of San Vicente, in the municipality from Ensenada , Baja California”, detailed the authority.
