Cemeka Mitchem, arrested with her partner when they were traveling on Interstate 85 in South Carolina, tried to flee from the police,

Police officers in South Carolina arrested a woman who hid about three pounds of cocaine in a fake belly that she taped to her body.

A couple, identified as Anthony Miller and Emeka Mitchem, both from Charlotte, were pulled over by Anderson County Sheriff's Office deputies while driving on Interstate 85 on April 12 during a “proactive patrol.”

The stop was based on Miller's erratic driving, which allegedly swerved several lanes and nearly collided with a semi-trailer truck, Public Information Officer Shale Remine told ABC News.

When officers pulled the couple over, they both acted nervously during the stop and said Mitchem was pregnant.

“The first red flag began when the two gave conflicting information about their due date,” a statement from the sheriff's office said.

In addition, the two suspects also offered different information about their destination, with agents finding marijuana in their vehicle shortly afterward.

Mitchem fled from officers as they became increasingly suspicious of the conflicting story offered by the couple, according to police.

“Mitchem immediately ran out and very quickly the drugs fell out of the fake rubber stomach,” the statement noted.

Both Mitchem and Miller were arrested and face drug charges for the 1,500 grams of cocaine officers recovered from the stop.

The two remain jailed in Anderson County.

“It's not every day we see something like this,” Remien said.
