The Mexican midfielder spoke about the 'pride' that comes from being the captain of Real Betis. He also said he felt the same thought about playing his seventh season in the Spanish team.

Andres Guardado has worn the Real Betis jersey in Spain for six years, and for this reason, now in his seventh season with the Seville team, the Mexican midfielder will have the captain's ribbon.

After the retirement of the mythical Joaquin, the captain's belt has been inherited by the Aztec, who explained how with “honor and pride” he will use said garment during LaLiga and UEFA Europa League matches, a contest that makes him “special illusion”; and that is placed as the main objective.

“A very big responsibility and with the luck or bad luck of inheriting it from someone like Joaquín, we know what Joaquín is, what he means for Betis, what his person represents for all Beticismo and for Spanish football. But hey, as I told him, for me it is an honor and a great responsibility, I will try to wear it with great pride and represent the Thirteen Barras with dignity, Guardado said in an interview with the Spanish newspaper Marca.

However, this is not all that the Mexican midfielder said for said portal, since the ‘Little Prince’ he also gave his opinion on his seventh season at Betis; situation that also made him feel “proud” because it was what he wanted.

“I was very proud, it was what I wanted, what I think it was the best for me. There was no problem of any kind to reach an agreement and continue for another year. Very happy for the confidence, especially that of the coach, which was an important part for me to continue here, and hopefully this year that I am back with Betis to be able to represent it with dignity as I have done these last six years and that it be just as successful or more than the previous ones”, Guardado told the Spanish media.
