Shakira joined Morocco's celebration for their pass to the semifinals in the Qatar 2022 World Cup after they beat Portugal by the slightest difference with a goal from Youssef En-Nesyri. It should be noted that the Moroccans had just defeated Spain in the round of 16 through kicks from the penalty mark.
The Colombian singer expressed her satisfaction through her Twitter account and wrote: “This time for Africa”, translated into Spanish, “It's time for Africa”, Shakira's message was accompanied by a heart and the Moroccan flag, making clear reference to the game between the African team and the Portuguese.
Shakira's phrase was reminiscent of the popular song “Waka Waka” from the 2010 World Cup in South Africa where the chorus refers to the African continent . It should be noted that “The Atlas Lions” are the first African team in history to qualify for the semifinals of a World Cup.
Now Morocco will face the French National Team in the semifinals of the Qatar 2022 World Cup for a place in the grand final next Sunday, December 18.
