As East Texas and Northern Louisiana gear up for rain and hail, triple-digit temperatures are forecast for much of South Texas for the next few days

In the coming days, Texas is expected to experience a variety of extreme weather conditions, putting 16 million people at risk across the southern US from Texas to South Carolina on Tuesday.

A severe thunderstorm watch was initially issued for parts of eastern Texas and northern Louisiana, from Tyler, Texas to Shreveport, Louisiana, primarily for large hail and high winds, according to experts.

Areas from Jackson, Mississippi, to Dothan, Alabama, face the greatest threat from very large hail and damaging winds, with a low chance of tornadoes in the area, according to forecasters.
