Liz Cheney evaded the first time she was asked if she planned to run for president, but later said she will make the decision in the coming months because for now she is just thinking about it.

Liz Cheney said hours after losing her Wyoming re-election primary to Trump-backed candidate Harriet Hageman that she is “thinking about” running for president, a decision she will make later and when she is sure of her candidacy she will. public.

Republican Liz Cheney was interviewed on the Today program where hours after learning the results of the votes that did not favor her, she was asked if she planned to run as a candidate for the presidency of the country.

“That's a decision I'm going to make in the next few months, and I'm not going to make any announcements here this morning. But it's something I'm thinking about, and I'll make a decision in the next few months,” Cheney said.

The comments came a few hours after major networks projected that the Wyoming Republican, who comes from a political dynasty, lost to Harriet Hageman , a candidate who is endorsed by Trump.

When first asked if she was considering running for president, Liz Cheney dodged the question by saying she will now focus her time in Congress, both serving the people of Wyoming and getting work done in the House on Jan. 1. She further added that she will do whatever it takes to keep Donald Trump out of the Oval Office.

This Wednesday it was announced that Harriet Hageman with 66.3% of the votes was ahead of Liz Cheney, who had 28.9%, according to The New York Times

In a statement, Liz Cheney's spokesman, Jeremy Adler, said the congresswoman plans to launch an organization that will focus on her core ideals.

“In the coming weeks, Liz will launch an organization to educate the American people about the ongoing threat to our Republic and mobilize a unified effort to oppose any Donald Trump presidential campaign,” Adler said in a statement.

About his political future, Cheney raised speculation during his election night speech , stating that “now the real work begins.” And he encouraged to be united to defend the country.

“I ask you to join me tonight. As we leave here, let us resolve that we will stand together, Republicans, Democrats, and Independents, against those who would destroy our republic,” she said.

He also added: “They are angry and determined, but they have not seen anything like the power of Americans united in defense of our Constitution and committed to the cause of freedom. There is no greater power on this Earth and with the help of God, we will prevail,” he concluded his speech.

As an extra fact, it can be said that of the 10 Republican members of the House who voted to impeach Donald Trump in January 2021, four of them, including Liz Cheney, lost their primary candidacies, another four chose to withdraw and two more did. they won their re-election primaries.
