The barricade situation began on Friday, March 10 around 2 PM, when LASD officers responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 16900 block of Wing Lane in Valinda.
When officers arrived, the suspect fired multiple shots at the officers, fortunately, no officers or bystanders were reported injured from the first exchange of fire.
This Sunday, Sheriff Robert Luna gave more details about the suspect, without revealing his identity, although he commented: “from what we know, he has an extensive criminal record , someone who is no stranger to contact with law enforcement.”
Many families in the area had to be evacuated while officers dealt with the entrenched suspect, who ultimately met a fatal end.
