The case of Rebecca Payne is going around the world, after it became known that she allegedly murdered her husband with cookies mixed with an overdose of a sleeping medication, in revenge for years of domestic violence.
Although Payne, 43, faces life in prison after being found guilty of murdering 68-year-old Noel Payne and keeping his body in a freezer, testimonies and relatives say she was a victim and deserves better treatment.
According to his lawyer, he was the victim of “unspeakable acts of family violence” after his wife physically assaulted him countless times and emotionally controlled him for years, even forcing her to tattoo his name all over her body.

Rebecca Payne was found guilty of murder by a jury earlier this year and this week her lawyer, Richard Edney, told the Supreme Court that it was a “unique and exceptional case” that required leniency from the sentencing judge.
In response, according to the English newspaper, Mirror, prosecutor David Glynn admitted that Payne was violent towards Rebecca Payne, including once hitting her on a dirt road, but rejected suggestions that she was trapped in the relationship. .
“This is not a defenseless woman unable to act. What she did required a significant level of planning, thought, and determination. This is not self-defense… you cannot solve your problems by committing murder,” she insisted.
